About the Retreat
Robert Beatty Seattle Weekend Mindfulness Retreats are non-residential weekend retreats that start at 9 am and end at 5 pm both days. Robert is the guiding teacher for the Portland Insight Meditation Center (PIMC) in Portland, an open Buddhist community. Robert provides instruction in vipassana or insight meditation. Robert's teacher was Ruth Denison and so comes from the lineage traced back to Burmese monk Lede Sayadow. The retreats include dharma talks, guided sitting and movement meditations, silent meditations, and question and answer times. His style is loving, kind, understanding and very real to today's world. His dharma talks include poetry readings, stories and song.
The intent of the weekend retreats is to help create a community in the Seattle area for those who resonate with Robert's way of teaching Dharma. Robert teaches retreats twice a year at the Nalanda Center. Those attending Robert's retreats are invited to participate in the formation or joining of meditation groups or "spiritual friendship" groups.
